Happy Diwali

Diwali or Deepawali, which is also known as ‘The festival of lights’, is the Indian festival that brings a series of festivals with it. One after another we get a chance to celebrate five festivals together. The people of all age groups and classes with equal zeal and enthusiasm celebrate Diwali throughout India. They put on new apparels and participate in the various activities that are related to Diwali celebrations. Diwali falls on the day of ‘Amavasyaa’ usually in the month of October or November.

On this day people light tiny diyas to fill their homes with bright light and create lovely designs all around their home with colorful rangoli art.

Diwali is not only a festival of celebrations such as lightings, crackers, social gatherings to exchange greetings and sharing sweets with your loved ones but it is also a festival that is filled with spiritualism and religious activities such as worship of Goddess Lakshmi, worship of Lord Ganesha, worship of Mother Kali, worship of Lord Chitragupta and worship of Govardhan Parvat.

Steve Jobs-'The Greatest CEO'

Steve Jobs, Founder and former CEO of Apple Inc, 56 yrs, passed away October 5, 2011 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976 and is credited, along with Steve Wozniak, with marketing the world's first personal computer in addition to the popular iPod, iPhone and iPad.

"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come," said Microsoft co-founder and long-time rival Bill Gates.
"For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor."

A college dropout, Jobs floated through India in search of spiritual guidance prior to founding Apple - a name he suggested to his friend and co-founder Steve Wozniak after a visit to a commune in Oregon he referred to as an "apple orchard."

With his passion for minimalist design and marketing genius, Jobs changed the course of personal computing during two stints at Apple and then brought a revolution to the mobile market.

The iconic iPod , the iPhone - dubbed the "Jesus phone" for its quasi-religious following - and the iPad are the creation of a man who was known for his near-obsessive control of the product development process.

"Most mere mortals cannot understand a person like Steve Jobs ," said bestselling author and venture capitalist
Guy Kawasaki, a former Apple employee, in a recent interview. He considers Jobs "the greatest CEO in the history of man", adding that he just had "a different operating system.

"Steve was the best of the best. Like Mozart and Picasso, he may never be equalled," said Marc Andreessen, venture capitalist and co-founder of Netscape Communications..

Electronics friend Bill Fernandez introduced him to boy engineer Wozniak, and the two Steves began a friendship that eventually bred Apple Computer .

"Woz is a brilliant engineer, but he is not really an entrepreneur, and that's where Jobs came in," recently remembered Fernandez, who was the first employee at Apple.Communications.

*Microsoft's Gates had called Jobs was the most inspiring person in the tech industry and President Barack Obama held him up as the embodiment of the American Dream.

Ahimsa

                       Gandhijis Views on Ahimsa

*Ahimsa is the highest ideal. It is meant for the brave, never for the cowardly.

*With Ahimsa we will be able to save the cow and also to win the friendship of the English.

*In Swaraj, based on ahimsa, people need not know their rights, but it is necessary for them to know their duties.

*Woman is the incarnation of ahimsa. (Ahimsa means infinite love. Which again means infinite capacity for suffering.)

*Ahimsa and Truth are as my two lungs. I cannot live without them.

*Ahimsa calls for the strength and courage to suffer without retaliation, to receive blows without returning any.

*Ahimsa is one of the world’s great principles which no power on earth can wipe out.

Secrets Of Happy Marriage

In the day-to-day, my marriage was rock solid. Steve and I shared chores; we equally divided kid care. Sex when happened was explosive fun or we just slept in each others arms.

When Steve and I first met, it was love at first go. We had to be away for months due to our jobs, we lost touch but we knew in our hearts that we were meant to be together.we  misunderstood eachother and fought over trivials but the day we got married and started living together, we were inseparable.Steve is the most loving and adorable husband ever.(heard that Steve?)

Today we crossed 25 years of happy happy marriage. And here are our secrets

$ Improve yourself- (Do it for him)

$ Be considerate- (E.g., "Mess up, clean up" and "Sincerely say you're sorry.")

$ Do things à deux- ("Explore together your invisible wealth," "Read together"...and, just to drive home the point, Always be together. No wealth on earth can keep my Steve away from me”).

$ Wake him up with a smile and that goes for you men too.

$ It feels good to look good- An opportunity to get Steve to wear nice clothes for a change, and not his ragged favorites.

$ Write love notes-You have to, have to, have to express your love regularly.(women remember this, you have to keep reminding the guys since they have a bad memory)

$ Give the gift of eye contact- Look in each others eyes.guys take note of this.girls express best with their eyes.

$ Try not to interrupt- Let each other speak without interrupting (and women, plz don’t speak forever)

$ Generous compliments lighten the heart-Steve loved my hair and I loved it when he said so.

$ Celebrate more- We lavished gifts on each other,  Steve and I together decorated our place on our own birthdays and accomplishments. Making a big deal of little things could add excitement to our lives.

"Life is Beautiful but not without him".

Heart Disease, No-1 Killer Of Women

When you hear the term “heart disease,” what is your first reaction? Like many women, you may think, “That’s a man’s disease” or “Not my problem.” But here is The Heart Truth: Heart disease is the number one killer of women . Most women don’t know this. But it is vital that you know it—and know what it means for you.

Worldwide 8.6 million women die of heart disease each year, accounting for a third of all deaths in women. With all the risk factors common to men additionally use of Oral Contraceptive pills is there in women. So women should be educated about everything they need to know about their heart.

According to statistics, the mortality rate among women suffering from cardiovascular diseases is also higher than that of men across the world, including India. The main reason behind the increased mortality rate in women is the changes in lifestyle in metropolitan cities. In big cities women are working late shifts and more and more women are taking help of smoking and drinking to deal with the stress of personal and professional life.

Risk Factors :

1) Non Modifiable : Age , Family history and sex.

2) Modifiable :
High blood pressure, High cholesterol, Obesity , smoking, Alcohol, Unhealthy Diet, Stress and depression, Sedentary lifestyle.
Following are the Risk Factors That Play a Bigger Role in Women.
These factors affect both men and women, but doctors are finding that they may have a bigger impact on women:

a) Diabetes. This in particular is a more potent risk factor for women. Women who have diabetes have a four to five times more elevated risk for heart disease.

b) Birth Control Pills : Studies show that women who use high-dose birth control pills are more likely to have a heart attack or stroke because blood clots are more likely to form in the blood vessels. Much of this information comes from studies of birth control pills containing higher doses of hormones than those commonly used today. Still, the risks of using low-dose pills are not fully known. Therefore, if you are now taking any kind of birth control pill or are considering using one, keep these guidelines in mind: Don’t mix smoking and “the pill.” If you smoke cigarettes, make a serious effort to quit. If you cannot quit, choose a different form of birth control.
SYMPTOMS
Unusual fatigue, Sleep disturbance , shortness of breath ,Indigestion , anxiety.

A wholistic approach combining Allopathy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy , Naturopathy, Yoga , and Lifestyle modifications can save your heart.

If you eat a nutritious diet, engage in regular physical activity, maintain a healthy weight, and stop smoking, you will improve your heart health. No matter what heart disease risk factors you have—or how many—you will greatly benefit from taking action in these four areas. If you already have heart disease, you can lessen its severity by following this plan.

But following a heart healthy eating plan, controlling your weight ,and engaging in more physical activity will help you keep your blood sugar at healthy levels. I used to have a comfort zone
where I knew I wouldn't fail.
The same four walls and busywork
were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I'd never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you're in a comfort zone,
afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.

Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

Wake Up. Its About Your Love

Diana was our General Manager whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with us

With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, " I would like to share with all of you a thought that is unrelated to work, but which I feel is very important.

As she spoke, tears in her eyes became visible to all of us..With efforts she was holding them back. She said "A day  would come when you have your loved one in your life. Then all you have to do is love him and hold on to him.Because one day when he is not there with you to hold your hand and care for you. That day you would want to go back and tell him again and again that you love him and that you cannot live without him..But it would be too late then.
"None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment. Perhaps this is God's way of telling us that we must make the most of every single day."

Her eyes began to water as she went on, "So I would like you all to make me a promise..Value your love more than anything else.Or someday he may just not be there".

Everybody was completely quiet. That day we learnt the most valuable lesson of our life..But for a few of us it was too late.Wake up if it is still not too late for you.
